The Criminal Investigation Department is the main investigative department within the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda with the main office located in the capital of St. John’s. In keeping with the mission of the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda, the Criminal Investigation Department is committed to the maintenance of law and order, the protection of life and property and detecting and investigating reports of serious crimes.

Sub Units include:
General CID
Responsible for investigating all types of crimes; break-ins, malicious damage, fraud, theft, wounding etc.
Special Victims Unit
Work in collaboration with Gender Affairs and Family Service Department. They investigate sexual offences and offers counselling to victims
Serious Crimes Unit
Responsible for investigating all homicides and other major crimes
Proceeds of Crime Unit
Responsible for confiscating assets from criminals who have made a financial benefit from a criminal activity.
Criminal Records Office
Responsible for securing exhibits and issuing police certificate of character (police records), collecting statistics etc.
Narcotics
Responsible for the collecting, documenting and investigation all drugs relating offenses.
Forensic Evidence and Recovery unit
Responsible for processing all crime scene and for the documentation, collection and presentation of forensic evidence found at crime scene.
Youth Intervention Unit
Responsible for youths across the country who are at risk and enter the justice system for variable reasons.
