he k-9 unit has been in existence for around two decades. In 2010 the unit was strengthened with 3 dogs with new handlers who was trained with said dogs. The k-9 unit was later reformed in 2017 with the inclusion of 8 dogs from the United Kingdom with new handlers.
The dogs were trained in various disciplines to include; Obedience, Protection, Apprehension, Narcotics detection Firearm and Ammunition Detecting, FX Bomb Detecting and tracking of humans.
The primary purpose of the unit is to give support. As a supporting unit we give assistance to all departments within the organization and other law enforcement Agencies. We work along daily with assisting these departments, weather on Search Warrants, Tracking of humans and Crowd Control, apprehension etc.
