The Police Training Academy opened its doors to the nation of Antigua and Barbuda for its first training which commenced on the 13th October 1967. A total of 44 courses were conducted over the past 46 years at the training institution. Throughout the years the institution has produced some of the finest officers who have served and is still serving the country with outstanding service on a daily basics. On the 19th November 2015 The Police training School was re-named to the Sir Wright F.George Police Academy. Over the past years the leadership of the Police academy has been outstanding in carving out the path for the future officers of the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda.

The Sir Wright F. George Police Academy is a training facility which is located at langfords estate. The academy provides all the necessary training both Physical and academics with the highest level of technology to the members of the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda. This entails a classroom conference room with seating capacity for 100 persons comfortably. It also contains a multimedia system for teaching and hosting training sessions. The Academy is also outfitted with a MILO indoor shooting range and an outdoor shooting range for the enhancement of tactical skills for each officer.
Each member of the organization attached to the different departments are required to undergo in depth and rigorous training to harness their potential, as we embark on attaining the most highly trained and effective Law enforcement professionals in the Nation of Antigua and Barbuda. The Sir. Wight F. George provides the latest technology in the field of education and tactical knowledge and customer service to enhance their cognitive ability as they combat against crime and protect the property and the dignity of All Antiguans and Barbuda’s and visitors of this beautiful nation.
Recruit and in-service training are totally geared to yield high results in improving effective community policing, de-escalation of domestic matters, effective communication skills safety precautions in the executions of their duties in the nation of Antigua and Barbuda. With an increase threats and new crimes, the Police Academy also delivers all the information to the new recruits and to the in- service personnel with the evolving trends of methodologies to prepare them for the future of their Policing career. These include highly structured content such as financial crimes investigation, Crime scene investigation, Traffic Collision and cyber-crime.
